The root chakra is located at the base of your spine, and very simply put, balance in the root chakra helps provide a sense of grounding and stability in your life.

With a psychology background, I like to think of the root chakra as similar to the base of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Physical core needs being met helps the root chakra stay balanced, in addition to spiritual feelings of safety and security in needs being met.

Imbalance or blockage in the root chakra tends to produce a lot of feelings of fear, uncertainty, insecurity, lack, and scarcity.

In this blog post, we will explore two options for root chakra healing!

Option 1 is a self-guided root chakra visualization that you can try.

Option 2 is a pre-corded root chakra healing guided meditation that I recorded several years ago.

First, we will walk through a simple guided visualization for the root chakra which you can read through and try on your own. You can try this meditation on your own with the accompaniment of drumming. This 10-minute track will work if you try it with drumming.

Option 1. Root Chakra Healing - Self-Guided Visualization

Step 1.

To begin your root chakra healing meditation, find a quiet and comfortable space where you can sit or lie down without distractions.

I find that root chakra meditations are easier to do while seated upright. I prefer a meditation pillow on the ground (the one I have is very similar to this one - it's so old, I can no longer find it! But I use an oval-shaped pillow that has buckwheat hull fill of similar height to this one).

You can also sit in a chair with your feet flat on the ground. I like to place my hands on my knees, palms facing up.

Settle in, ask your Higher Self to help you disconnect from collective energy, and as you breathe in, ask that all your energy is returned to you. If you'd like you can visualize it returning in with your breath, and grounding down into your root and belly.

Take a few deep breaths, allowing yourself to relax and let go of any tension in your body. Noticing specifically tension in the jaw and shoulders, and relaxing.

Step 2.

As you breathe, start to direct your attention to your base, the seat of your spine.

Visualize a white column of light extending from your base, like a tree trunk, down through the Earth, traveling down through the Earth's layers, until it reaches the bright, white glowing Divine Source of energy in the Earth. Connect your column, your grounding cord, to this white glowing orb of light.

As you continue you breathe in, visualize healing energy flowing back up your column of light, your grounding cord, to your base. Firmly rooting and grounding you.

Step 3.

Return your attention to your base.

Visualize a red ball of light at the base of your spine, the location of your root chakra. This ball of light represents your Root Chakra. This is your energetic body's foundation, your connection to the earth, and the energetic home of your sense of safety and security.

As you focus on this ball of light, imagine any tension, fear, or negative energy leaving your body, any heavy or thick energy that you see, feel, or find within this ball of red light. Imagine your Root Chakra, this red ball of light, expanding and opening to release these energies - you can visualize them flowing out through your base, down your column of light, to be released into the earth.

Continue to hold his image and breathe until you feel as though you have released what was needed for today.

Feel yourself becoming more relaxed and centered with each breath.

Step 4.

Now, imagine roots growing from the ball of light, extending deep into the earth. Visualize these roots connecting with the earth's energy (the white Source of energy mentioned above) and as you breathe, draw up this warm, nurturing energy and follow it as it flows up through your body and into your root chakra. As this energy fills your root chakra, feel the expansion of this energy center, and a sense of stability and grounding.

If you wish, you can repeat the following affirmations to yourself, or make up an affirmation that affirms your own present security.

One I like is
"I have found, I have water, I have shelter. I have everything I need at this moment."

Others you can try are:
"I am safe and secure."
"I am connected to the earth and its energy."
"I am grounded and centered."
"I trust in my foundation and my ability to handle any challenges."

As you continue to breathe deeply and focus on these affirmations, feel your root chakra becoming more balanced and harmonious.

Step 5.

When you're ready, slowly open your eyes and take a few moments to come back into your body and the present moment, and sit with and in the calming energy that you likely now find yourself in!

This root chakra healing meditation can be a powerful tool to help you release tension and restore balance in your life. Practice it regularly to enhance your sense of grounding and connection with your foundation.

Next, you can try a pre-corded root chakra healing meditation if you'd like!

Option 2. Root Chakra Recorded Guided Healing Meditation

In this 33-minute guided meditation, you will embark on a journey to heal and balance your root chakra, the energy center located at the base of your spine.

Same as before, get yourself in a comfortable, upright, relaxed position before you begin. Again, I highly recommend a meditation cushion so you can be comfortable in your practice. Ideally, listen with headphones.

Through gentle guidance, soothing music, and visualization techniques, this meditation will help you release blockages or energy in your root chakra, restoring its natural flow and harmony. You will learn to connect with the healing power of the earth and tap into your own inner strength, allowing you to feel more grounded, centered, and empowered.

Whether you're looking to reduce stress, overcome blockages, or simply enhance your overall well-being, root chakra healing visualizations can be a powerful tool to help you find balance and connection with your foundation.

Enjoy!

Sarah
